Vijayawada: Residents of YSR Jakkampudi Colony informed the municipal Commissioner J Nivas that they are vexed with the mosquitoes and pigs menace and asked the civic chief to take steps get rid off the problems.
As part of the visit, Nivas, along with the officials of engineering, public health and other departments visited the Jakkampudi Colony and interacted with the local residents.
The colony residents have complained about the mosquito menace. They said that the water was getting stagnated due to poor sewage system in the colony.
They also informed the commissioner thousands of pigs were roaming in the colony causing panic and poor hygiene conditions.
They expressed apprehensions that the pigs may attack the children.
Responding to it, the commissioner directed the officials to take up anti-larvae operations on a war-footing basis and improve the side drains connectivity to drain out the sewage water.
Referring to pigs menace, the commissioner asked the officials to take steps to tackle the menace.
He also enquired about the supply of drinking water and door to door collection of garbage.
He suggested the officials to verify for the installation of compost post so that the local garbage can be converted into organic manure.
