In order to give big boost to the micro, small and medium enterprises in the state, the State and Central governments are jointly setting up two industrial estates and upgrading three existing industrial estates at a cost of Rs82 crore in a span of two years
Vijayawada: In order to give big boost to the micro, small and medium enterprises in the state, the State and Central governments are jointly setting up two industrial estates and upgrading three existing industrial estates at a cost of Rs.82 crore in a span of two years.
As part of the initiative, two industrial estates will be set up in Chittoor and East Godavari districts and three existing industrial clusters will be upgraded in the districts of Prakasam, Visakhapatnam and Nellore in two years.
The Union government will allot Rs.31crore as its share. The state government will invest Rs 51.60 crore for development of infrastructure facilities. The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) will provide basic infrastructure facilities like roads, lighting, side drains and drinking water in these estates.
The new industrial estate will come up at Peddapuram in East Godavari district at a cost of Rs 12.46 crore. Of this, the share of the Central government is Rs 5.60 crore while the state government will contribute Rs 6.85 crore for the project.
The APIIC has already got the land where 29 plots will be developed in 20.60 acres land, said S V Giridhar Rao, Joint Director, the Department of industries. He said the size of each plot will be 0.30 acres to 1 acre and will be allotted to the entrepreneurs. A new industrial estate will come up at Gandrajupalli of Chittoor district in 515 acres land. The project cost is estimated at Rs 29.27 crore. The implementation agency is APIIC.
The Central government grant is Rs 7.18 crore against the total estimated cost of Rs 29.27 crore. The APIIC will provide infrastructure facilities in the proposed site. Of the 515 acres land, development works will be taken up in 100 acres. Contribution of state government to the project is Rs 22.09 crore.
Siddharth Jain, Commissioner of Industries, said the state government will be giving top priority to industries and developing the infrastructure facilities in the industrial parks.
The state government will upgrade three industrial estates in the state. Industrial estate located at Singarayakonda, Prakasam district will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 10.57 crore.
The share of Union government is Rs.6 crore while the state government will invest Rs.4.57 crore. A total 110 plots will be developed in 136 acres in two years. The APIIC is the agency for implementation as it owned the land. Size of each plot is between 0.25 acres to 2 acres.
Similarly, industrial estate in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, will be developed at a cost of Rs 5.73 crore. The share of Union government is Rs 4.58 crore and the state government will invest Rs 1.14 crore for the upgrading the estate.
A total of 1065 plots will be developed in 1476 acres land by APIIC. Joint Director, the department of industries Giridhar Rao said the Vizag is an industrial city and development of infrastructure facilities in Gajuwaka industrial estate will be useful to the local entrepreneurs.
Finally, industrial estate at Vedayapalem, Nellore district will be developed with Rs 22.02 crore. The contribution of the state government is Rs 14.02 crore while the Union government will grant Rs 8 crore for development of 850 units in 93.5 acres land. The APIIC has already possessed the land and development works are to be completed in two years.
