Kadapa: District Collector Ch Hari Kiran inspected the solid waste processing centre in Valluru mandal on Thursday and enquired with VRO Sarada about the collection of dry and wet waste from the houses.

He also asked how many green ambassadors are being used for the collection of the waste. Giving reply, the VRO informed the Collector that a tonne of garbage is being collected every day through six green ambassadors in Vallur mandal.

She further said collected waste would be dried up for 40 days and would be sold to farmers for Rs 10 per kg after converting into fertilisers. Expressing satisfaction over the performance of solid waste processing unit, the Collector directed the officials to ensure the centre to be declared as model one for the entire state.

Later, Hari Kiran has inspected the mulberry plantations being raised in 50 acres with the sanctioned funds of Rs 1.5 crore at Muthukuru village in Atlur mandal. On the occasion, the Collector has interacted with the SC beneficiaries about their experience in irrigating crops.

Responding to their plea over sanctioning of individual farm ponds, he informed them that there was no such provision as the beneficiaries should construct community farm ponds as per the government specifications. DWMA Project Director Y Hari Haranath, SC Corporation Executive Director Lakshmi and other officials were present.
