Eluru: Protesting against ‘anti-farmer and anti-worker’ policies of the Central government, CITU and AP Rytu Sangham will organise a Chalo Collectorate and Jail Bharo protests here on August 9.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, CITU district secretary DNVD Prasad and AP Rytu Sangham district secretary K Srinivas said that the agriculture sector was facing deep crisis because of the faulty policies of Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
The government had been issuing crores of rupees towards loans to corporate firms and waiving them later. When it comes to farming sector, farmers were not getting even small amount of loans.
Even though the farmers had been committing suicides under deep financial crisis, the government was not coming to their rescue, they alleged.
The leaders charged the Centre with allowing corporate heads to leave the country to save them from probe. On the other hand, the poor farmers had been dragged to courts for their failure to repay the small amount of loans.
They further said that the BJP government had been snatching lands from the farmers and handing over them to corporate firms, they alleged.
The leaders called upon the farmers and workforce to fight the government till it changes its policies or quits.
They said campaign material such as posters, banners and pamphlets were being distributed in entire district to make success the Chalo Collector and Jail Bharo programmes, which would begin at Eluru at 10 am on August 9.
