Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said that the government has constructed 4,800 houses in 150 blocks within 9 months. He participated during lottery process for distribution of houses to the beneficiaries here on Sunday and said aim of the state government is to see happiness in the eyes of poor women.

“Out of 43,000 houses planned in the district, 7,059 houses are being distributed. The process of allotment houses will be made through lottery system. The selection process is transparent system where there is no chance for any favours. We used shear wall technology along with quality construction for the convenience of the beneficiary,’’ said the Minister.

He said some more houses in some blocks will be completed shortly. These places are having playground, community building, hospital, and commercial place on par with gated community colonies, he said.

Narayana reiterated that they had visited many countries and finalised shear wall technology for durability that can sustain even during cyclones and earthquakes. They had also allocated houses for the elderly people above 65 years of age and also for differently abled persons in the ground floors for their convenience, he said. Nuda Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy, Mayor Aziz, and others were present.

Prior to the programme, Minister participated in Happy Sunday programme at NTR Park. He said even though Scandinavian country Norway bagged the first place across globe in Happiness Index, Andhra Pradesh comes first in India.

He said this kind of entertainment on Sunday boost their energy and happiness. He said they had organized the Day in all 110 municipalities across the state aiming at providing a breather to the people.
