Visakhapatnam: Four persons died, and six others were critically injured in various road accidents that took place on the NH-16 in the district on Monday.

In the first accident, V Sagar, 27 and his wife V Rajani, 25, died on the spot while their two-year-old son V Dev and M Narayana Raju, a family friend and a resident of Hyderabad, suffered severe head injuries. Dev, sustained minor injuries, was undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Anakapalle.

The condition of Narayana Raju is said to be critical and he was shifted to KGH in Visakhapatnam from Anakapalle. The accident took place when Sagar, a business man, was heading from Visakhapatnam to Talupulamma lova Temple to have darshan of goddess. While giving way to a two-wheeler, Sagar lost control on the vehicle and hit a parked lorry from behind near Anakapalle.

Narsipatnam DSP Ch Vivekananda said that a vehicle moving yards ahead of the SUV hit a motorcycle and sped away. As the biker fell from the vehicle, Sagar swerved the SUV to left turn in a bid to avoid hitting the biker, hit a stationary lorry, he added. The deceased Sagar and his wife Rajani are natives of Srikakulam but were residing in Vizag and were into FMCG distribution business.

In another accident, two persons died on the spot and four others sustained injuries when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling hit by a RTC bus on NH-16 near Kottoru Junction. According to the police, the deceased were identified as D Eswara Rao, 48, and J Lakshmi,45.

Anakapalle DSP K V Ramana said Eswara Rao was a vegetable trader and a native of Kasimkota while Lakshmi was working in a hostel. Police said the bus hit the auto from rear side when it was heading towards Anakapalle from Kasimkota.
