Vijayawada: VMC Commissioner J Nivas said that all the residents should segregate dry and wet household waste separately and hand over to the sanitary workers failing which they would not take them.

As part of the field-level inspection, the commissioner on Thursday visited 59th division, Kandrika, Bhurma Colony, Rajivnagar and other places and spoke to the residents about drinking water supply and on garbage collection.

On observing the residents giving the waste without segregating, the commissioner informed the residents to segregate household waste before giving it to the sanitary staff.

The commissioner warned of stern action on the residents who throw household waste on the roads without handing over to the sanitary staff as per Public Health Act.

Later, the commissioner visited Maternity Health Centre at Rajivnagar.
On observing the worn out flooring of the hospital, he ordered to repair it immediately. He also ordered the town planning section officials to demolish the unauthorised construction on Prakashnagar – Pypula road.

Chief medical officer Dr Arjuna Rao, health officer Dr Madhusudana Rao, deputy executive engineers Narayana Murthy, Gurunatha Rao and others were present.
