Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has invited Buddhist monk Dalai Lama for the inauguration of Buddhist Heritage Festival at Amaravati which is scheduled to be held in December.

R Mallikarjuna Rao, Regional director, AP Tourism, along with GB Jayashankar and Dr Raman, Fountain Head event managers and Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) met Dalai Lama in Bangalore on Sunday and invited him to grace the occasion.

Sivanagi Reddy said that Dalai Lama was on a spiritual Dharma Tour in Bangalore and informed that the Buddhist monk responded positively to the invite and assured that he would come.

The monk asked the AP Tourism department authorities to organise international seminar on Acharya Nagarjuna’s Philosophy and to invite Buddhist scholars and scientists of Quantum Physics across the world during the Global Shanti (peace) Buddhist Heritage festival.

Later, Dalai Lama launched a book entitled ‘Buddha Jayanthi’ edited by Dr E Sivanagi Reddy and R Mallikarjuna Rao of AP Tourism at Bangalore on Sunday. A broacher of CCVA was given to Dalai Lama on the occasion.
