Amaravati: Expressing concern over poor performance of 8.6 per cent by women and child welfare department, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked officials to concentrate on developing nutri gardens with the cooperation of local panchayats.

Conducting a review meeting with officials of convergence departments at the Secretariat on Monday, Naidu said policies should be viable and practical. He said officials should try to win the appreciation of people by implementing the developmental programmes.

He asked the officials of tribal welfare department to speed up work to increase the performance. The department achievement stands at 25.25 per cent. He expressed satisfaction over 31.35 per cent progress of housing department.

The Chief Minister asked the animal husbandry department officials to improve fodder development to meet the demand. When the officials informed that there 91 lakh animals in possession of 14 lakh farmers in the state, he asked the officials to make a data base on animals in the state by providing unique number to each animal.

He directed the officials to develop a portal useful for dairy farmers, consumers and officials to get necessary information and updates. The Chief Minister said fisheries department officials should speed up works of fish ponds, fish drying platforms and approach roads.

The product should be fool-proof and as per the global norms, he said and added that the department had achieved 4.24 per cent progress. He expressed happiness over increase in mangroves in the coastal belt.
