Ksheeradhivasa Tirumanjanam performed at Tirumala

Tirumala: On the fourth day of ongoing five-day Sahtabandana Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam religious fete, Ksheeradhivasam ritual was performed to Mula Virat, presiding deity of Lord Venkateswara, Parivara Devathas and the deities in the sub-temples at Tirumala on Wednesday.

As a part of Prana Pratishta, Adhivasam ritual is performed by the priests to induce cosmic energy to the Vigrahas. The Vigrahas bear a tremendous cosmic power through performance of Prana Pratishta.

Worship of manifestation of Lord in the form of Vigrahas enables us to fulfill our wishes and achieve peace. The Adhivasas are of different types which include Ksheeradhivasam, Jaladhivasam, Phaladhivasam, Chayadhivasam, Dhanyadhivasam, Pudhpadhivasam and Sayanadhivasam.

They will be usually performed as per the temple tradition and as mentioned in the Scriptures. They are all important rituals of Maha Samprokshanam. While Kseerdhivasam followed by Jaldhivasam was performed from the morning to noon the remaining rituals were performed one after another later in the late evening.

Ksheeradhivasam: Ksheeradhivasam signifies performing abhishekam to the main deity with holy milk. In Mukundamala, Sri Kulashekara Alwar one of the prominent propagators of Vaishasanvism and most revered by devotees explains ‘Ksheera Saagara Taranga Sikara Saara Tarakita Charu-Murtaye’ underlining the importance of performing the ritual Ksheeradhivasam.

As a part of Ksheeradhivasam, Maha Santhi Tirumanjanam was performed with 14 Kalasas to Moolvarlu in Garbhalayam and also Utsavarlu in the Yagasala. Another interesting aspect which took place on Wednesday morning was the performance of Abhishekam with sacred water and milk to Gopura Sikhara Kalasas of Sri Vimana Venkateswara Swamy, Sri Garudalwar, Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, Sri Bhashyakarulavaru, Dhwajasthambha, Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy by looking their images in a mirror.

The Mahasamprokshanam ritual comes to an end on Thursday. The devotees who visited the shrine were enthralled at the bewitching decoration of the shrine which was decked with flowers of various hues giving a festival look.

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, TTD Trust Board member Sudha Narayana Murthy, Tirumala JEO K S Sreenivasa Raju, Temple Dy EO Harindranath and other officials were also present.

A total of 10 hours was provided for darshan to pilgrims at Tirumala temple on the last day of Mahasamprokshnam on Thursday. According to TTD officials, darshan timings for the pilgrims is from 3.30 am to 6 am, 3.30 pm to 7 pm and 8 pm to 12 midnight. Meanwhile, 16,400 pilgrims had darshan on Wednesday till 6 pm and the day’s hundi offering is Rs 54 lakh, the lowest in the recent times.
