Tirupati: The employees working in Vinyas Innovative Electronics Private Limited, Vikruthamala staged a dharna before the Labour department office here on Thursday, demanding the management to repatriate them to Mysuru where the firm is based.

The protesting employees including Sathish, Kumar and Dhanraj said that 94 employees including 10 women were transferred against their will to the firm’s newly set up unit at Vikruthamala Industrial Estate, 25 km from Tirupati city.

The employees, who reported to duty on August 10, were shocked as there is unit functioning except a big shed located in the industrial estate, devoid of basic facilities, they said adding that the management angered over establishing union for the employees working in the firm in Mysuru, in a vindictive manner transferred them to Vikruthamala.

CITU state Vice-President Kandarapu Murali said that the 94 employees were left high and dry with no shelter and work here. On coming to know about their pathetic plight, the CITU arranged accommodation and took up their case. He demanded the Labour department to intervene immediately on humanitarian grounds and take required steps to do justice to the aggrieved employees.

The employees under the banner of the CITU also staged a dharna before RDO office to draw the attention of the officials to step in to save the employees in distress. Labour department officials including Srinivas, Vidyasagar and RDO Narasimhulu moved at the plight of employees assured them to take up their case with the management.

The officials said that if the management failed to ensure the facilities for the transferred employees for temporary stay till they get accommodation and facilities in the unit, they will write to the APIIC which leased out the land to the firm to take action on the erring management.
