Amaravati: TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu directed the Muslim leaders of the party to ensure a grand success of Muslim Minority public meeting scheduled to be held on August 28 in Guntur.

In a teleconference held with party leaders across the state on Saturday, Naidu said the Minority public meeting organised with “Nara Hamara–TDP Hamara” slogan would highlight the number of welfare programmes being implemented by the government for Muslim minority community in the last four years. He said the party leaders have to take responsibility to create awareness among Muslims about the welfare programmes being implemented by the government.

The welfare programmes helped in reducing poverty, generated employment and helped in their development, he added. Stating that only Rs 200 crore budget was allocated for minorities in the united AP, Naidu said whereas the TDP government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore budget in the bifurcated state. The Chief Minister said the Dulhan and Ramjan Tohfa programmes gave most satisfaction among Muslim community and suggested the leaders to explain them about these programmes in public meetings and in the ongoing Grama Darsini also.

He said the government was committed to construct Haj Bhavans at Vijayawada and Kadapa district. As mentioned in the TDP election manifesto, the state government had implemented all the promises made to Muslims, he added. In addition to that, the government had established Urdu University in Kurnool district to encourage minority students to pursue higher education.
