Free milk to children at Durga temple

Vijayawada: Sri Kanaka Durga Malleswara Swami temple is going to supply free milk to children in queue lines and on temple premises. The meeting of temple Trust Board chaired by its chairman Y Gouranga Babu took the decision in this regard here on Saturday.

The temple would also distribute Appam Prasadam free of cost and Kadambam Prasadam would be distributed in queue lines during the Dasara festival celebrations. On the occasion, newly appointed executive officer V Koteswaramma said that the temple would conduct elaborate arrangements for Dasara festival. She said that one acre site has been earmarked for parking purpose on the temple premises atop Indrakeeladri.

She said that tenders were called for setting up 32 CCTV cameras at the temple. New shelters would be constructed at Mahamantapam and other required locations in the temple premises with the support of NRIs, she said. Meanwhile, Arjita Sevas at Durga temple were deferred for three days in connection with the 'Pavitrotsavams' being conducted at the temple.

CCTV footage missing in saree missing case: Reacting to a question in connection with the inquiry into saree missing case, she said that the 15-minute CCTV footage of the devotees offering the saree, was missing. She said that action would be taken in this regard also. She further said that they would face the case legally against the petition filed by former board member. Trust Board chairman Gouranga Babu said that no sexual harassment incident occurred at the temple as per allegations made by former trust board member Kodela Surya Latha. He wondered why the former member did not give complaint to the board when she was also a member in the board.
