Rajamahendravaram: Kakatiya University (KU) former vice-chancellor Prof N Linga Murthi has advised the students to focus on generating jobs, mainly for rural unemployed in the state. The students of MBA should take it as their first priority, he added.
Addressing the students at a national workshop conducted on ‘Rural empowerment and entrepreneurship for socio-economic change’ under the aegis of Department of Management Studies of GIET (DMA) here on Thursday, he said as many as 70 percent of people were residing in the villages and the country can be developed only when the villages developed on all fronts.
“Rural empowerment is the real empowerment. The country is still a poor country. Though there are abundant natural resources, we are not using them properly.
Many rural areas are having industrial potentiality along with productive capacity. Because of this reason, the MBA students should concentrate on villages.
NABARD district manager Dr KVS Prasad said India was an agro-based country and underlined the need to develop agri-base industries for the development of the country. He advised the students to concentrate on villages.
ONGC general manager A Balaji assured to extend financial assistance to MBA and BBA students who prepares projects for the development of rural areas.
GIET Department of Management Studies chief Dr PRK Raju presided the programme.
KU former vice-chancellor Prof Linga Murthi released a book ERUDITE published by DMA.
Students, professors and representatives of industries, GIET college principals Dr TV Prasad, Dr SS Raju, director LS Guptha, vice-principals PVGK Raju, Jagannadha Raju, Dr S Murthi, Dr Leelavathi and many others were present.
