Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon turned normal in Andhra Pradesh, with rain occurring at a few places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday, the Met department bulletin said.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Bheemunipatnam (Vishakhapatnam) 6, Srungavarapukota, Mentada, Bondapalle, Gajapathinagaram (all in Vizianagaram) 3 each, Cheepurupalle, Balajipeta (both in Vizianagaram), Kalingapatnam (Srikakulam), Rajahmundry, Sullurpet (Nellore), Garividi, Therlam (both in Vizianagaram), Badvel (Kadapa) and Tanakal (Anantapur) 2 each.

There was 1 cm of rain each in Kukunoor, Vizianagaram, Vepada, Nellimarla, Dowleshwaram, Tada, Agali, Obuladevara Cheruvu, Allagadda, Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Muddanur, Thottambedu and Kalyandrug. The upper air cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood between 3.6 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level has merged with the shear zone.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in the State from September 1 to 4. No large change during the period September 5-7 is the weather outlook.
