Chittoor: In order to dethrone Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Centre and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the State, a Third Front would be formed as an alternative force, according to CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna.

The CPM, CPI, Jana Sena, Lok Satta, Aam Aadmi Party and other like-minded parties would join hands to form a third front, he said. A concrete strategy would be evolved in this regard at a public meeting, Maha Garjana, scheduled to be held in Vijayawada on September 15.

Addressing a meeting at Gandhi statue here on Wednesday, Ramakrishna said that there was an immediate need to dethrone the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the TDP government in AP to protect the interests of the poor and weaker sections.

He slammed Chandrababu Naidu for totally ignoring the cooperative sector in the State to protect bigwigs and his own dairy. The CPI leader also said the farmers were suffering under Naidu’s rule as he was adopting anti-ryot policies.

“No farmer is happy in the State. Due to persisting drought conditions in the State, farmers are forced to migrate to other States in search of livelihood,” he said. Referring to Opposition Leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he said the YSRCP chief was busy evolving plans to protect himself from the quid pro quo cases filed against him. Ramakrishna predicted that the YSRCP would face humiliating defeat in the next elections.

CPI Central Committee member Srinivasulu, CPI district secretary A Rama Naidu, CITU district president P Chaithanya, Jana Sena district convenor Saravana, trade union leaders Nagarajan, Muralai, Venkataiah, Gangaraju, Vijayakumar, Ramana Rao and others were present.
