Tirupati: The Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in select locations of temple city were integrated with the Real-Time Governance (RTG) Centre in Amaravati via Central Data Server (CDS) in Visakhapatnam for surveillance of important events, civic issues and natural calamities from a remote location.
Tirupati is the third city in the state to be linked with command control unit of the RTG Centre after Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
According to sources, 7,500 CCTVs were installed at various places across the state including construction site of Polavaram Project.
In the first phase, 500 CCTVs were fixed on top of the poles in Tirupati and were linked to the RTG Centre. The government wants to fix another 1,000 CCTVs at vital locations here.
Cameras which were fixed in Tirupati are equipped with facial recognition technology and fitted with zoom lenses. In addition to CCTVs linked to the RTG Centre, Tirupati Urban cops have installed 225 CCTVs in the city.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and officials can directly monitor the day-to-day events in pilgrim city from their chambers at Velagapudi and can give directions to local officials here.
The visuals captured from CCTVs would be transmitted to CDS in Visakhapatnam. From there, visuals are redirected to the RTG Centre.
The government used cable network of the AP FiberNet Limited for connecting CCTVs with CDS and RTG Centre.
Visuals being watched by the Chief Minister and officials are of high quality. The cities can be monitored round-the-clock and throughout the year.
Speaking to The Hans India, RTG CEO A Babu said that the RTG is useful for improving civic conditions in cities and emergency situations like natural calamities and deterioration of law and order.
