Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that the government is putting its endeavour to save each drop of water and as a result, the ground water table was increased in the state.

Offering ‘Jala Siriki Harati’ to Godavari Matha here on Saturday, he underlined the need to create awareness on judicious use of water among the people.

He said construction of 30 irrigation projects were completed in the state against 60 projects taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 60,000 crore.

Rajappa said the government would give top priority for river linkage programme and so far Godavari and Krishna rivers were linked through Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme benefiting the Krishna delta farmers.

Lakhs of acres were irrigated and the government was very much particular to complete the remaining projects as early as possible, he added.

Legislative Council Deputy Chairman R Subramanyam, Collector Karthikeya Mishra, Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary, irrigation department superintending engineer N Krishna Rao and others were present.
