Notifications to fill 18,450 posts in AP government departments

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) chairman P Uday Bhaskar said on Wednesday that notifications will be issued for filling up 18,450 posts in various government departments. He said the service commission would get indent from the respective government departments on posts lying vacant and the APPSC would release 30 to 40 notifications as per the schedule.
Addressing a media conference at the APPSC office at the MG Road here, Uday Bhaskar said the posts related to Group-I, Group-II and Group-III would be filled as per the decision taken by the government and felt it will take 6 to 12 months to fill all the 18,450 posts.
He said the commission would prepare a calendar for the examinations and take measures to avoid clash with the Group-I and UPSC examinations. He said syllabus would be prepared and submitted to the expert committee for suggestions.
Referring to Group-II services, he said uniform syllabus will be used for preliminary and mains examinations to save time of candidates. He said there was a waste of time due to separate syllabus for two examinations.
He said if the government gives permission, the APPSC would conduct the examinations to fill the posts of school teachers instead of DSC. Uday Bhaskar said that there are about 6,000 posts to be filled in various departments barring teachers and police. He said the Police Recruitment Board would conduct the examination to fill the posts in the police department.
He made it clear that necessary steps will be taken to ensure smooth conduct of examinations as early as possible. He said 3,000 posts will be filled in the Home department and 1,604 posts in the Medical and Health department.
A total of 182 Group-I posts will be filled in the departments of the Revenue, Home, Finance and the Transport departments. A total of 93 MPDO posts will be filled as part of massive recruitment drive.
Under Group-II category, 337 posts will be filled in 11 departments which include the Municipal Administration and the Urban Development, the Finance, the Law department, Secretariat, General Administration and Legislature Secretariat.
A total of 1,657 posts will be filled under Group-III services in the Revenue, Energy, Education, Home, Finance, Women and Child Welfare, General Administration, Social Welfare and Higher Education etc.
The Education department gets lion’s share in the recruitment. About 1,100 teacher posts will be filled in Gurukulams under the Commissioner of Tribal Welfare. A total 750 teachers will be recruited in the social welfare residential educational institutions under the Social Welfare department.
As many as 500 teachers posts will be filled in Ashram schools (Schedule areas) under Tribal Welfare department, 300 teacher posts will be filled in Ashram schools (Non-schedule areas) and 350 teachers posts will be filled in BC welfare residential schools under BC Welfare department. APPSC secretary A K Mourya and commission members were present at the media conference.
