Beautification of Buggavanka to be remain a dream

Beautification of Buggavanka which is located in Kadapa city seems to be remain a dream for the people for the last decade following lack of clarity in the official machinery and other several reasons. Politicians who are utilizing the Bugga Vanka beautification issue as an promise during the electioneering later they least bothered the issue.

As per the official records state government has sanctioned Rs 33.54crores for the beautification of Buggavanka project in 2006. As part of this project a 8,400metere length protection wall, 6 high level bridges, 2 foot path bridges has to be constructed in time bound manner.

One Hyderabad company had owned the tenders by quoting 20percent lesser amount against the total cost of Rs 33.54 crores of the project. However that company dropped in the middle after doing some work by saying that it was not profitable due to hike of raw material like cement, steel, sand, etc.

Meanwhile with the intervention of one ruling party leader in to the issue the cost of the project was increased to Rs 55 crores with revised estimations, and fresh tenders were called for the project in 2008. Another company owned the works by quoting 29 percent excess amount against total cost of the project. In this connection it was reportedly said three ruling party leaders have accepted Rs 6crores bribe for sanctioning the works to that company.

However that company has failed to complete the project as it has stopped the works after completing the protection wall up to 1200 meters following encroachments witnessing in the surrounding areas like Kagitala penta, back side of cine theater etc in the Kadapa city.

Recently district collector CH.Harikiran who visited Buggavanka directed the officials to prepare estimations for beautification as the state government is keen on releasing funds for the purpose.

When contacted by Hans India Kadapa Municipal Commissioner K.Lavanna said that incompletion of underground drainage works is one of main reasons for delay taking place in executing beautification of Buggavanka works. He said that under drainage works were divided into four parts. The underground pipeline works in the two areas which were proposed to construct through the Buggavanka leads this situation. . “ We have already served the notices to the house owners who were encroached the government sites in surrounding s of Buggavanka he said.
