Srikakulam: Development works are going on at famous Siva Kshethram Srimukhalingam in Jalumuru mandal in the district with an aim to attract devotees. Main road widening works were launched by the roads and buildings department officials to clear rush on all auspicious days.

The road leading to Jargangi to Pindruvada in front of Srimukhalingam temple is connecting the state highway leading from Narasannapeta to Parlakimidi.

Total estimated cost of the road is Rs 30 crore, of it Rs 25 crore funds were allocated to road works, Rs 2 crore for rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package for the families who lost their houses, lands and another Rs 3 crore is for tax.

“We started removal of constructions for widening the road in villages after the process, we will expand road”, R&R deputy executive engineer, Killi Satyannarayana told The Hans India.

After widening of the existing Pindruvada to Jargangi road, master plan would be implemented around the temple. Four roads around the main temple are proposed to widen which are called as Mada Street. Temple shrine processions would be organised through these streets on all important days.

Hence, widening of these streets is essential. Widening of temple surroundings proposed by the state government and we conducted a survey in this regard”, confirmed Srimukhalingam temple executive officer VVS Narayana with this newspaper.
