Nellore: BJP State President Kanna Lakshminarayana on Wednesday took a jab at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, stating that it was not the UN but a local NGO from the US that invited him to speak at a conference at the UN.

Lakshminarayana pointed out that if the UN had invited him it would have borne all expenditure, whereas an NGO invited him, but the people had to bear the huge expenditure of such trips.

“We came to know that an NGO invited him for their meet. Procedures of UN are different. But, father and son attended the NGO meet for their publicity and not for interests of the state. So, people have to bear the expenditure for their publicity,” he criticised.

The BJP state president was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a meeting with the office-bearers of Nellore, Chittoor and Tirupati districts. Lakshminarayana also demanded that the State government also furnish details of donations the father-son duo had collected from local people, NRIs, schoolchildren and also the amount fetched from sale of bricks.

“The state government is showing the Centre as a culprit saying no development in the state has been funded by the latter. They have collected huge amounts from local philanthropists, NRIs and even from the school going children. They also sold bricks. How much have they collected?” he questioned.
