Rajamahendravaram: The city of grand culture is famous for some business establishments, which has brought name and fame to the city for over 70 years. One among them is the 'Rose Milk' centre, which is well known across the state.

The rose milk business is the brainchild of Gubba Simhachalam who started it in the year 1950 with a thought to provide new drink to the people. Since then, it Has been flourishing. From 1982, his son Gubba Ramachandra Rao is running the rose milk centre with the help of his brothers.

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’ here on Thursday, Ramachandra Rao recalled that in those days his father used to get ice by train from Chennai due to lack of production in the city. He further said that now they were producing quality ice using mineral water, using milk produced from their own dairy and making kova from milk to maintain quality. One kg of kova is produced from five litres of milk and using fermented colours. After boiling the water with Sugandhi herbs, it will be filtered and then the permitted colour will be used in it, which gives it a good smell.

The drink is purely a milk product and making three varieties such as rose milk, kova and semya. Kova or semya will be mixed in the rose milk as per the wish of the customers.
