Tirupati gets 100-bed ESI hospital

Tirupati: The renovated and upgraded 100-bed ESI hospital in Tirupati was inaugurated by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday. The renovation, which began seven years ago, was completed now with a cost of Rs 110 crore. It was constructed in a sprawling area of 3.75 acres with basement, ground and five floors. Earlier, the hospital had 50 beds.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Gangwar said that six crore people were getting ESI services in the country. Andhra Pradesh has 79 ESI dispensaries and four ESI hospitals with a combined bed capacity of 335. Along with labourers 40 crore people were working in unorganised sector and the government has been looking for how best they could be benefitted.
The new centrally air-conditioned hospital complex with inpatient and out-patient departments provides treatment facilities through various departments. The renovated hospital offers services in general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, paediatrics, orthopedic surgery, anaesthesiology, pulmonary medicine, ENT, opthalmology, dental, radiology, pathology, physiotherapist, STD/HIV/AIDS.
The IP block has two Indian operation theatres, which includes one labour OT. There was also one imported OT, one labour ICU, 17 wards with six beds in each ward. The casualty service is in operation round-the-clock.
