Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam district on Monday bagged several awards in Swachh Andhra Puraskar-2018 announced by the state government. The district won best awards in 11 categories and 41 sub-categories.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation was selected as a best urban local body, Narsipatnam Area Hospital was selected as best government hospital while Rushikonda Beach was selected as beach/river/lake/front best tourist place. Sri Varahalakshmi Nrusimha Swami Temple, Simhachalam was selected as best temples in 6-A category and Nathavaram was selected for best Major Panchayat.
The awards will be presented by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi to be held on Tuesday at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam students have bagged all the first, second and third prizes in the State-level in essay writing, elocution and drawing competitions conducted on Swachta Hi Seva programme.
Class X student of KGBV, Sabbavaram V Aneesha, bagged first prize in essay writing, Class IX student of APMS, Marupaka GL Aravindha bagged first prize in elocution and Class X student of KGBV, Narsipatnam G Sravani won first prize in drawing competitions.
