Kakinada: Aditya Academy received first prize in ITC-sponsored WOW (Well-being out of Waste) programme in Andhra Pradesh. S Shruthi, Director of Aditya educational institutes, received the prize from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Vijayawada on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations.

The school gave incentives to its students to collect used notebooks and paper for recycling. Aditya schools stood first in the state for collecting nearly 34 tonnes of used paper and old notebooks, which can save as many as 575 trees, 2,38,000 gallons of water, and 1,36,000 kw of electricity according to statistics.

Around 10,000 students of 10 schools of Aditya in Godavari districts participated in the competitions. Speaking on the occasion, Aditya group of schools chairman N Sesha Reddy congratulated the students and principal S Shruthi and said that it is a proud moment that the school receiving prize from the Chief Minister. School management also thanked East Godavari district coordinator N Ramudu, CC S Wilson, Durgababu Krishna, Shekhar and Venkateshwar Rao for their efforts to win the prize.
