Visakhapatnam: The Steel Plant Employees Union announced that the Central government has withdrawn the Total Maintenance Contract (TMC) system proposed to be introduced in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. All the parties and trade unions in the plant opposed the TMC and alleged that it was the first step to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

All the unions with the support of the YSR Congress, CPI, CPM and Jana Sena started agitation against the TMC. With this, the Centre and RINL management have announced that they were not implementing the TMC in the plant and old process will continue.

On the occasion, all the trade union leaders conducted a victory meeting. Leaders from all the trade unions including B Gangaram, T Dasu, N Rama Rao, G Venkata Rao, B Muraliraju, G Bosubabu, Masthanappa, B Pydiraju and others were present.
