Visakhapatnam: The third edition of Japan-India Maritime Exercise JIMEX-2018 are being held here since Sunday. They comprise a Harbour phase and Sea phase of each four days. The Harbour phase of the exercises will be held till October 10 including professional and social interactions between ship’s crews, sports fixtures and operational planning.

The Sea phase would include Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercises, VBSS (Visit, Board, Search and Seizure) Drills, Gun Firings, Cross Deck Operations and coordinated operations in Anti-Submarine/ Anti-Air threat scenarios.

As part of JIMEX-2018, Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer, Commanding Eastern Fleet and Rear Admiral Tatsuya Fukada, Commander Escort Flotilla-4, Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force interacted with the media onboard INS Sahyadri on Monday.

Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) Ships Kaga, an Izumo Class Helicopter Destroyer and Inazuma, a Guided Missile Destroyer and from Indian Navy INS Satpura, multipurpose stealth frigate, INS Kadmatt, Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, Missile Corvette and INS Shakti, the Fleet Tanker, one submarine, P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft and a number of integral helicopters participating in the JIMEX-2018.
