Police bust car theft gang, recover 8 stolen cars
The Machavaram police arrested a fivemember interdistrict criminal gang and seized eight cars from their possession
Vijayawada: The Machavaram police arrested a five-member inter-district criminal gang and seized eight cars from their possession. Speaking to media here on Monday, Deputy Commissioner of Police 1 (law and order) Gajarao Bhupal said that four accused were identified as Sanikommu Srinivasa Reddy alias Reddy, Akula Sai Maniteja alias Pandu, Odiganti Srinu alias Srinivas and Pitanji Sivaraj, who hailed from West Godavari.
The prime accused has been identified as Pitani Sairam alias Sai hails from Payakapuram, Vijayawada. The gang stolen 7 cars from Vijayawada city and one car from West Godavari.
The police arrested the gang when they were moving in a suspicious manner near the ESI hospital and detailed them for questioning. During interrogation, the gang confessed to the crime of lifting eight cars in Vijayawada and West Godavari district.
The DCP said the value of eight cars was estimated as Rs 20 lakh. The gang theft the cars parked in front of houses with duplicate keys under the police station limits of Machavaram, Satyanarayanapuram, Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada city and Eluru police station in West Godavari.
