Adventure tourism : VMRDA to introduce zipline, other events

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (VMRDA) is planning to introduce another adventurous sport after getting into an agreement with a private agency Linovia of Hyderabad to install Zipline at Tenneti Park on the Beach Road in the city.
By the next coming tourist season, the city will be able to facilitate the tourists with zipline adventurous sport along the coastline.
Zipline is popular in Western countries and USA and tourists find it thrilling by sliding down from hill slopes.
The VMRDA is planning a two-way line, one from Kailasagiri to Tenneti Park, the landing spot and another return trip.
The zipline will have world-class safety features and standards and will be the first one in the region along a coastline offering a stunning sea view.
A senior officer in the VMRDA said that the forest department has given clearance and approval from other agencies are expected.
A unique adventure zone will be coming up Kailasagiri area, one of the top tourism spots in Vizag city.
The zone will include several adventure sports such as zip swing, parallel ropes, commando net, archery, paintball arena, target shooting, rock climbing, rappelling, sky jump, Tarzan swing, sky ladder and zoom ring.
The state government and tourism focus on to promote the adventure tourism to attract tourists from different parts of the world and most of the foreign visitors wanted adventure sports in the coastal region, the APTDC with the support of Livein Adventures, Vizag based firm that conducts water sports activities has set up the academy with around Rs 2 crore said Regional Director of AP Tourism Development Corporation, J Radhakrishna Murthy.
The scuba diving academy located at Chintapalle coastal area in Vizianagaram district to be operational from November of this year, he added.
By the next tourist season, we will have a host of adventure sports, more rooms to accommodate both foreign and domestic tourists both in the city and agency areas such as Lambasingi, Chintapalle and some other areas in Vizag and Vizianagaram districts,’’ said a senior APTDC official.
