Visakhapatnam: Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) and Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) have decided to observe Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW)–2018 jointly from October 29 to November 3 under the auspices of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to spread awareness against corruption on the theme “Eradicate Corruption- Build a new India” to involve all sections of society in fight against corruption.

As preparation to VAW, Inter-Collegiate Essay Writing and Elocution competitions in both English and Telugu have been conducted on the theme jointly by DCIL and VPT on Wednesday.

As many as 104 students from 10 degree colleges in the city participated in the competitions. Competitions commenced with a mass integrity pledge by the students and officers and staff of DCI and VPT present. Students and teachers also took integrity pledge online in CVC website.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Vigilance Officer of DCI and VPT, V V S Sreenivas said that the organisations had commenced preparatory activities for Vigilance Awareness Week early to ensure participation from a wide spectrum of sections of society true to the spirit of the event and emphasised the need to inculcate and nurture core values like honesty, integrity, moral values in the students.

Deputy CVO, DCIL, Capt K K Chakravarthy stated students being future of the nation, should be encouraged to take part in fight against corruption by expressing their original and natural thoughts.

At Vizag Steel Plant
As part of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, several programmes are being conducted by RINL-VSP at various colleges in Visakhapatnam as part of multi-pronged approach to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in fight against corruption. Elocution competition was conducted at Training Centre for school children in three languages with the theme “Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India.” As many as 70 students from 8 schools participated in the competition.
