Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu highlighted various sustainable initiatives being undertaken to build capital, in a video-conference in the ‘Sustainable Future Forum’, Singapore, organized by French international banking group BNP Paribas.

This was the third edition of the Sustainable Future Forum with the theme ‘Finance for a better tomorrow’. Naidu invited the investors to come and participate in the development of the capital city, according to a release by AP Economic Development Board here on Thursday.

The Chief Minister addressed the plenary session of the event which was participated by over 800 decision makers representing over 400 companies ranging from investment bankers, social impact fund, sustainable funding agencies to multilateral agencies.

The delegates present at the session were representing 24 countries. Naidu’s address was on ‘Building a City Fit for Our Future: Showcasing Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.’ The address highlighted the various sustainable initiatives being undertaken to build the capital and sustainable investment opportunities in building the capital.

After the address by the Chief Minister, a panel discussion on AP and the various sustainable initiatives undertaken by the state was held. The panellist on the session also included Joris Dierckx, Country Head of BNP Paribas for India and CEO of BNP Paribas SA,. Pavan Sukhdev, president of WWF International’s Board and Satya S Tripathi, assistant secretary general and head of the New York Office of the United Nation Environment Programme.

The discussion covered the Zero-Budget Natural Farming initiatives (ZBNF), achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by AP, interlinking of rivers and the investment climate in the state.

The panel members especially highlighted the efforts of the Chief Minister in implementing ZBNF in the state and how it is the largest such initiative in the world that would ensure food security while addressing climate change.

Mr. Tripathi also acknowledged the Chief Minister for his leadership wherein he informed the delegates that “Mr. Naidu is probably among the top leaders in the world today, given his leadership and ability to deliver”.
