Vijayawada: The state government has set up a four-member committee to frame guidelines to continue the services of hereditary Archakas. Retired IAS officer Balasubramanyam has been appointed chairman and the commissioner of the endowments department is the convener.

The law secretary and the chairman of the Brahmana Corporation are also members in the committee. The panel would submit report to government in the next two days. The state government has taken decision following the recommendation made by the endowments department taking into consideration of the request of the AP Archaka Samakhya.
