Painting contest on breast cancer organised in Vijayawada
Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and actress Goutami were guests at Breast Cancer awareness programme to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month October, organised by Roots Health Foundation RHF along with NATA North American Telugu Association at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Sunday
Vijayawada: Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and actress Goutami were guests at Breast Cancer awareness programme to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), organised by Roots Health Foundation (RHF) along with NATA (North American Telugu Association) at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Sunday.
As part of the awareness programme, about 300 women participated in painting competition with a slogan on Breast Cancer awareness messages on a 1800-foot-long canvas creating a new record for Telugu Book of Records.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao appreciated the representatives of Roots Foundation and Life Again Foundation for taking initiative to organising health awareness camps which would help transform the state as ‘Arogrya Andhra Pradesh’.
He said that the government would support health foundations to organise health camps. He said that land was allotted for Indo American Cancer Research Institute at Amaravati and construction works would start soon.
He further informed that awareness on cancer increased among people and check-ups increased by ten percent.
Actress Goutami said that early detection of cancer helps in its treatment. One should know about cancer and lead a life with confidence.
She compared cancer with an accident in life. The winners were given prizes and all the participants were given participation certificates.
Roots Foundation representatives, NATA representatives and others were present. One of the participants of the painting competition, Tanisha, studying Intermediate at Takshsila IAS Academy, Vijayawada said that she participated in the painting competition to create awareness on Breast Cancer with the slogan ‘Hope is more than your Fear’.
Other participants include dental students from Government Dental Hospital, Vijayawada. The winners were given prizes and all the participants were given participation certificates.
MLA Gadde Rammohana Rao, Roots Foundation representatives, NATA representatives and others were present.
