Encroachments galore in govt land

Bhimavaram: Tank lands in Pinjeruvu and Kothapet areas of Veervasaram are under illegal occupation as government officials failed to save the government lands.

The encroachers have been getting electricity connections for these illegal constructions apart from payment of house tax to the local body.

The encroachments continue unabated as land sale activity is going unchecked here. People complain that the encroachers have been selling the lands to make a fast buck.

A majority of the encroachers have houses somewhere else in the town and keeping the illegally occupied lands for real estate business purpose.

As the officials have plans for construction of primary health sub-centre in tank land besides land acquisition for constructing houses for new applicants under various housing welfare schemes, the illegal occupants have been trying to sell the lands as there is every chance of local officials razing the illegal structures.

The occupants of the land are trying to make money as there is good market for land in the area.
