Visakhapatnam: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) president K Hemalatha has said that over 25 per cent of the workers in the country going to lose their jobs due to the rapid automation and artificial intelligence.

Referring to the October report of World Economic Forum, she said that by 2025, majority of the task hours would be taken over by machines and India would face severe consequences.

Hemalatha inaugurated the three-day National Working Committee meetings of CITU being held in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Township on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the workers in India are fighting against the government, which is grabbing the workers’ pension fund and also mentioned that the similar fighting is on in Russia on the pension reforms.

Talking about the successful fighting of DCIL workers, Hemalatha said that similar united fight is highly need of hour against the privatisation of various sectors including railways and defence sectors.
