Tirupati: The upgrading of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP), a leading Sanskrit institution and a Deemed University is on the cards. RSVP Chancellor N Gopalaswami speaking after inaugurating a RO water plant in RSVP on Thursday said that the HRD Ministry is actively considering the proposal to upgrade the RSVP into a Central University to boost up Sanskrit studies and a positive result is expected soon to the delight of Sanskrit scholars, researchers, students and Sanskrit lovers all over the country.

He also disclosed that Rs 1.18 crore had been sanctioned to the University for taking up the digitisation of palm leave manuscripts and editing them to bring them into print as part of Ramanuja Millennium Year Celebrations. Priority will be given to the editing of the palm leave manuscripts which have not seen the light so far and to bring them in book form for study and research.
