Kurnool: State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) member Y Rajeswaramma has instructed the Mandal Educational Officer (MEO) Omkar Yadav to close Rockwood High School as the school has no adequate number of student strength. The panel member visited the school on Monday where ninth class student of the same school was brutally injured by the Hindi teacher two days ago. Speaking on the occasion, Rajeswaramma has stated that the MEO would have visited the school early and inspected the number of students pursuing education in the school.

After inspection, the MEO would have taken steps to close the school as there were only 12 students, she mentioned. She further said that the school headmaster without following norms had appointed Hindi teacher Shankar as an education volunteer. Shankar had inflicted knife injuries on ninth class student at her home in Bangarpeta for rejecting his love proposal. The girl victim is out of danger, the panel member stated. Prior to visiting the school, the Commission member visited the government general hospital where the girl victim is undergoing treatment and consoled her. ICDS Assistant Project Director P Vijaya, Rockwood High School Headmaster Ravindra and others accompanied Rajeswaramma.
