Vijayawada: The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) will organise another edition of its flagship event, the fourth international multilingual poets’ meet at Sri Seshsai Kalyana Vedika here on November 10 and 11. The event will see the unveiling of CCVA’s International Multilingual Poetry Anthology ‘Amaravati Poetic Prism 2018’ showcasing 1,111 poems in 107 languages by over 630 poets from 76 countries.

This unique poetry anthology was edited by Padmaja Iyengar (Paddy), CCVA’s Honorary Literary Advisor. The earlier editions of this anthology have been recognised by the India Book of Records and the Limca Book of Records (2016). Each edition has gone on to break its own previous records in terms of number of poems and languages.

‘Amaravati Poetic Prism 2018’ is no exception and has followed the same trend of breaking the record of its 2017 edition. Besides, the anthology has poems of the recipients of a Padma Vibhushan, four Padma Shri and two Gnanpith awards, many Kendra and State Sahitya Akademi awards in different languages. The overseas poets too are winners of top poetry prizes. One of them a Noble Prize nominee for Literature and another nominee for Pulitzer Prize-2018.

As many as 138 poets from 16 countries (including India), representing 42 languages (of which 25 are Indian languages), will descend on Vijayawada and the precincts of Sri Seshsai Kalyan Vedika will reverberate with their poetry readings from Amaravati Poetic Prism 2018 in various languages.

Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy said that the overseas poet delegates are from Albania, Bangladesh, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Jordon, Mauritius, Mongolia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Slovenia, South Korea, Sri Lanka and USA.

India too is well represented by poets in 25 languages that include rare languages like Dogri, Khasi (Meghalaya), Santali, Mizo, besides all the major Indian languages.
