Visakhapatnam: The Government of Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with UNESCO-MGIEP (Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development), is conducting a 3-day conference on ``Transforming Education for Humanity” (Ed-Tech) in the city from November 15.
The state government has entered into 5-year agreement with UNESCO–MGIEP to conduct the conference in Visakhapatnam and the TECH-2018 is the second edition of the global conference being jointly organised by AP Government and UNESCO MGIEP with the support of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Information and Technology N Lokesh and Union Minster for Human Recourse Development Prakash Javadekar will participate in the conference.
The conference is supported by several educational and technology partners including Microsoft, Samsung, Unity, Adobe, HP, 3DS, Veative Labs and Eon Reality etc. Delegates from 22 countries are expected to participate in the meeting.
Eminent resource persons from Canada, USA, Japan, France, United Nations, Finland, Denmark and Sweden will deliver key note addresses in the conference, the minister said. ``The Government is aiming to transform the State into a globally competitive and happy society with a vision focuses not just on economic growth but also on happiness, well-being.
AP aims to be number one in the World by 2050, there by influencing global communities. The TECH-2018, the hub and the Vizag declaration will help establish Andhra Pradesh as the 'Skill Capital' of India,” Srinivasa Rao said.
AP government, with the knowledge partnership with UNESCO MGIEP, will be setting up the Intelligent Global Hub for Digital Pedagogies in the city. This hub would comprise a Centre of Excellence (COE) on the science of learning, a school for Difference learners (children affected by Dyslexia, Dyscalculia), a Global Standards Certification Bureau, a Teachers Training Academy, a top notch Design University that will teach among other courses Digital product design and game design, a cross-sectoral skilling platform as also an incubation center where start ups that would build ed-tech learning products based on the research from the COE.
This hub is a unique ecosystem and will generate thousands of high skill jobs, train a talent pool of highly specialised talent pool, and in its wake spawn innovation bringing global research, industries, and investment to the region.
