Various farmers associations and social organisations in the region joined hands under the banner of `RayalseemaSaaguNeeti Sadhana Samithi (RSSS) to spearhead the movement to press the government to take steps in allocating rightful share of water to the region.

Speaking to media here on Saturday, Federation of Farmers Association (FFA) state president MGopal Reddy and Ryalaseema IntellectualForum president M Purushottam Reddy said RSSS will take up continuous struggle to force the government to give priority to Rayalaseemaregion in the allocation of Krishna waters as per `Sri Bagh Agreement’.

The injustice in the water allocation to Rayalaseema is continuing due to the apathy of the successive governments, they said adding that the dharna was to remind people and the government aboutthe imminent need of fulfilling `Sri Bagh Agreement’ made between the leaders of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema on November 16, 1937 in letter and spirit to end the raw deal to the backward area for the past several decades.
