Ramagiri (Anantapur): Minister for Woman and Child Welfare Paritala Sunitha has inaugurated the sanitary pads vending machine at the BC Welfare Hostel in Nasanakta village in Ramagiri mandal. The unit was sponsored by the Paritala Ravindra Trust. The unit was set up for the benefit of school girls, who attained puberty, and was having a problem purchasing hygiene sanitary napkins.

The Minister told the school children that after inserting a Rs 5 coin in the machine a packet of three pads would come out of the machine. The adolescent girls after using the sanitary pads should dump the pads in a burning machine installed in the hostel premises.

The machine would burn the pads and reduce them to ashes, she explained. The Minister stated she understands the problems of the school girls and had donated the machines through the trust established in the name of her husband late Paritala Ravindra for helping the poor and the needy.

Sunitha mentioned that she would talk to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu about the problems of adolescent girls in government schools and hostels and see that similar machines are installed and supplied to the girls.
