Vijayawada: The AP DISCOMS submitted their Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) plan to Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) here on Saturday for the financial year 2019-2020. According to DISCOMS, Rs 38,204 crore is required for annual expenditure while the projected income including tariffs and non-tariff income is Rs 29,241 crore. The DISCOMS proposed annual deficit of Rs 8,963 crore.

The Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (EPDCL) proposed Rs 13,740 crore as its annual ARR while its projected income is Rs 11,754 crore with revenue deficit of Rs 1,987 crore. Similarly, the Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (SPDCL) submitted ARR of Rs 24,464 crore with projected income of Rs 17,488 crore and revenue deficit of Rs 6,976 crore. Though 7.8 per cent increase in average cost of supply is leading to increase in expenditure of Rs 1.49 per unit, the DISCOMS decided not to increase the tariff. As per the DISCOMS, 68,584 MU power would be available from all services against the total energy requirement of 67,713 MU. It is estimated that 870 MU surplus power is available from the total power generation sources in the State.

The DISCOMS also proposed to meet 24.7 per cent of the energy requirement through renewable sources. As per plans, the DISCOMS will utilise 8,866 MU wind power with 15 per cent hike compared to last year while solar power share is proposed at 7,201 MU with the hike of 58 per cent. As per the proposals, the power charges would not be increased for the next financial year also though the additional burden is Rs 1.49 per unit. As many as 1.64 crore consumers are going to get benefit from the decision. The seven hours free power supply would be continued and nearly 17 lakh consumers would get benefit from it.

The DISCOMS also proposed to reduce tariff charge from Rs 6.95 to Rs 5.95 per unit for electrical vehicles and charging stations. APEPDCL CMD HY Dora, APSPDCL CGMs YSN Prasad and B Lalitha submitted the ARR copies to APERC chairman Justice G Bhavani Prasad and members P Raghu, P Ram Mohan at APERC office in Hyderabad. AP TRANSCO JMD Dinesh Paruchuri was also present.
