Visakhapatnam: The suicide of RTC bus driver (Simhachalam Depot) Ch Nageswara Rao has sparked a protest from his colleagues, workers and family members in front of RTC Depot on Saturday.

Nageswara Rao committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Friday allegedly due to harassment by depot manager Divya. Rao had written on his hand that the depot manager was responsible for his death.

According to the sources, Rao had involved in one road accident in which a car was damaged after the bus hit the vehicle.

The car owner has sent the accident photos to the regional manager, Visakhapatnam and the RM forwarded the same to depot manager seeking action against driver Rao.

Depot manager Divya called up Rao and inquired about the incident. After discussions with the manager, Rao came out and consumed pesticide. Though there was no evidence of harassment of depot manager, Rao has consumed the pesticide.

Expressing anguish over the incident, the staff of Simhachalam bus depot staged a protest demanding action against Divya.

As the situation turned tense, the ACP (West) L Arjun deployed additional police personnel to Simhachalam depot to prevent the untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, the sources said the RTC management assured to provide job to one of the sons of Rao.
