Amaravati: Mages Electronics Park and the State Electronics department signed an MoU in the presence of Minister for Information Technology Nara Lokesh here on Wednesday. The Mages Electronics would develop and promote a greenfield-electronic medicine compendium (EMC) in 200 acres near Srikalahasti investing Rs 188.4 crore, as per the MoU.

While managing director Indu Mouli, director Narsimha Rao and director Rohit Reddy represented Mages, Principal Secretary of IT Department Vijayanand was present. Mages is a consortium of Al-Baraka Plastic Industries LLC, Sri Siddharth Infratech Services (I) Private Limited and Medicube Health Care Private Limited. It has been expected that the consortium would get investment of Rs 800 crore creating direct and indirect employment for 15,000 people.

The main objective of the EMC is to provide a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for electronics, medical industry and Medical Device Park with support from the State Government. The park intends to achieve creating direct and indirect employment for 15,000 people, create a minimum of 50 patents in medical technology and to incubate 50 start-ups in medical technology.

Addressing the gathering, after the MoU was signed, IT Minister Lokesh said that there are umpteen opportunities in the medical industry which would generate employmen. The State government has decided to become leader in medical electronics field also, he added.
