Vijayawada: A two-day Amaravati Nrithyotsav-2018 was commenced at Siddhartha auditorium here on Saturday.
Nataraj Music and Dance Academy, Visakhapatnam organised this dance festival to showcase the traditional Indian classical dance forms like Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri and Mohiniattam to the art lovers of capital city, Vijayawada.
The curtain raised on first day festival with the performance of Sailu Sree and her disciples. They presented Kuchipudi item “Manmadha Dahanam”. This was followed by the dance recital of Roopa Kiran (Hong Kong). The Bharatanatyam items presented by Roopa were received well by the audience.
An extraordinary performance of ‘Padmasree’ Chitra Visweswaran was appreciated by the elite gathering present in the auditorium. She presented the dance item which depicts the childhood of Krishna.
The dance item showcased by the artistes of Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal excellently performed the dance item Pung Cholom and Dhol Cholom in Manipuri dance style. The rhythmic dance and movement of the artistes was enjoyed by the youth present in the auditorium.
Sruthilaya Group from Kerala presented ‘Padam’ in Mohiniattam style which was one of the art forms of Kerala State.
On this occasion, ‘Padmasree’ Chitra Viswesaran and Bharatanatyam exponent, Chennai was presented ‘Amaravati Lifetime Achievement Award 2018’.
SVL Narasinga Rao, Retd Deputy Collector, Y Lakshmana Rao, Regional Director, ICCR, IIlapuram Venkaiah, G Viswanath, G V Rama Rao, Datta Subba Rao, Madhu Babu and Vikram Kumar, the founder of Nataraj Dance Academy, industrialists were present at the felicitation function.
