VicePresident M Venkaiah Naidu will perform Bhumi Puja at the Vijayawada International Airport here on Tuesday evening at 5 pm for the construction of new integrated terminal building at a cost of Rs 611 crore

Vijayawada: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu will perform Bhumi Puja at the Vijayawada International Airport here on Tuesday evening at 5 pm for the construction of new integrated terminal building at a cost of Rs 611 crore.
Later, the Vice-President will meet the Vijayawada-Singapore flight passengers to mark the inauguration of services.
The new terminal will be built in 35,000 square metres with 24 check-in counters.
The Airports Authority of India will construct the new building with rural and urban blend of Vijayawada culture with interior and exterior designs.
The new terminal can handle passenger capacity of 3.33 million passengers per year with peak hour handling capacity of 1200.
The new terminal will have custom counters, immigration counter, baggage claim carousels, baggage conveyors, taxi stand, vehicle parking facility and many more, said G Madusudana Rao, Director of the Vijayawada Airport.
He said the temporary terminal built at the airport was inaugurated in May 2017 and now ground-breaking ceremony would be held for the construction of new terminal building.
