Kadapa: A 3 member drought team headed by Rajiv Singhal have visited the Nallagutta Palli, B.Rachapalli, Sudha palle, Bala nagar, Sibyala villages in Rayachoti and Ramapuram mandals Thursday. They inspected Mango, Ground nut, crops which were destroyed due to prevailing severe dryspell conditions in Nagutta palle, B.Rachapalle villages in Rayachoti constituency later interacted with the farmers.
In the meeting organized at Sibyala Pedda cheruvu village drought team interacted with the farmers whether they are securing seeds, fertilizers properly from the government during the seasons. The central drought team wanted to know the farmers how much investment they put on standing crops like mango, ground nut, and other horticulture crops during the Kharief season. K.Ramakrishna of the village explained the central drought team they have been continuously facing severe drought spell conditions for the last 15 years in the district. He narrated that they failed to secure water from bore wells following drastic fall of ground water levels due to severe dry spell conditions in 2018 year. He said this Kharief season also they have lost the crops in a big way.
Rayachoti MLA G.Srikantha Reddy who participated in the meeting recalled that last year also central drought team visited the Rayachoti constituency but no expected justice was done as the central government least bothered over the issue. He said due to intervention of ruling party leaders injustice has been made to the real needy in the NREGS. He urged the drought to recommend the government to initiate steps for enhancing 180 working days in view of preventing vast migrations in Rayachoti constituency.
Earlier the central drought team witnessed the photo exhibition organized by I&PR department at RB gust house in the city had review meeting with the collector CH. Harikiran over prevailing drought conditions in the district.
Collector explained them there was -6percent deficit rain fall recorded in 2018 year as the government declared all 55 mandals as drought hit areas in the district. Later Team organizer Rajiv Singhal said there was severe drought conditions witnessing in the Kadapa district. He said they would submit detail report to the central government after discussing the issue with the AP Chief Minister very soon. Central drought team members Sandeep Sharma, Karan chowdary and others were present.
