Vijayawada: On the occasion of 62nd death anniversary of Dr Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the state government declared that the power utilities will implement Jagjeevan Jyothi scheme to the beneficiaries.

The AP power utilities which have been providing 24x7 quality and power supply to the consumers at low cost tariff, have geared up to ensure 100 per cent delivery of public welfare schemes like Jagjeevan Jyothi.

Principal Secretary Energy Department Ajay Jain held teleconference with all the power sector officials of over 6,000 in number here on Thursday and stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to provide free power up to 100 units under Jagjeevan Jyothi scheme to the SC and the ST households.

The scheme was earlier applicable up to 75 units and now extended to 100 units benefiting more than 11 lakh SC and ST consumers making Rs 250 crore subsidy per annum which will be reimbursed by Social Welfare Department. He has categorically stated that government that will initiate stringent action against local linemen and AEs who fail to implement the scheme.
