Srikakulam: Family members and relatives of fishermen who were detained in Pakistan by its coast guards for the last ten days for crossing of border while hunting fish in Arabian Sea urge the leaders to take steps for the release of their kin. A total 13 persons from D Matsyalesam, Badivanipeta and other villages in Etcherla mandal were detained by Pakistan coast guards.

They have sent their requests for their release to PM Narendra Modi, Foreign Affairs Minister SushmaSwaraj, Vice-President, M Venkaiah Naidu, MPs, YS VijayaSai Reddy, K Haribabu and K Rammohan Naidu on Tuesday through e-mails under the aegis of fishermen union leaders, Chintapalli Suryanarayana, Moogi GuruMurthy, M.Palguna Raju and others.

The fishermen went to Veraval in Gujarat State in September this year and were engaged as fish hunters by the local boat owners there. The boat owners are paying salaries to them. During their fish hunt they accidentally crossed the border and were detained
